A STORY ABOUT FAITHFULNESS

Two of my most common prayers are for wisdom and "words".

I often feel insecure when talking with people. I feel like I don't get my words right or I say things I don't mean.

Do you feel like that, too?

Well, about 5 years ago I started praying for "words".

The reason I started praying for words wasn't because of some diligent bible study. It wasn't advice from a mentor or pastor, and it wasn't from anything I found on Pinterest outlining how to have a better prayer life.

No - my prayer for "words" was straight from the heart.

My prayer for "words" was a desperate plea because I was in a situation that had me feeling alone and helpless during a time when I was expected to be sharp and confident.

I distinctly remember the day I prayed for "words". There was so much on my heart I wanted to say to the Lord Jesus, but only 15 minutes to say it in. I was frustrated and crying piles of hot tears.

So, out of sheer hoplessness and anger I yelled out:

"LORD! I JUST NEED WORDS! I NEED YOUR WORDS!"

I remember feeling silly as I screamed at the Lord for "words".

But, it was authentic and real. And while my frustrated prayer didn't accurately describe all of the insecurities I was carrying in my heart, it somehow felt like enough.

And you know what, He showed up that day in a big way.

I remember drying my tears and getting out of my vehicle while uttering the statement:

"ok, God; let's do this."

And, we did.

That day, the Lord used me in a way I had never felt before in my life.

He spoke for me.

He put confidence in me.

He showed me His faithfulness and He strengthened my trust.

He picked me up when I didn't feel like I could stand.

It's been 5 years now and I've been praying for "words" ever since!

And every time I do, I am taken back to that time when I only had 15 minutes to pray in my van on the interstate and I didn't even know what to say.

And I smile because I am reminded how faithful the Lord is at the times we least expect Him to be.

Because His ways are higher.

I want to encourage you today to talk with the Lord.

Don't worry about what you say or how you say it. Speak from your heart.

Don't worry about how long it's been.

Talk with Him and ask Him to show up and see what happens.

"He will regard the prayer of the destitute, and not despise their prayer."
Psalm 102:17 KJV

"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation."
Romans 10: 9-10 KJV
